Hermes leaves his village in Mexico, crosses the desert and enters the United States. His brother had been murdered, and because he is also gay, he is afraid of being the next victim. In New York, one of the sanctuary cities, he connects with Father Fabián, active in immigration issues, and enters the Program of Juvenile Visas. Father Fabián Arias is guardian of dozens of youngsters who entered the US without documents, Hermes was the first of his adoptive children.

Hermes deja su pueblo en Méjico, cruza el desierto y llega a los Estados Unidos. Su hermano había sido asesinado y él tiene miedo de ser la próxima víctima, pues también es gay. Al llegar a Nueva York, una de las ciudades santuario, el joven conecta con el Padre Fabián, activo en temas de inmigración y entra en el Programa de Visas Juveniles.
